Who Needs a PC for Programming

I recently wrote about an Android app that lets you write Android apps on Android. It looks like these types of apps are starting to come around now. On the flip side, it turns out there is a comparable app in iOS land, sort of. I recently found WORQSHOP, which is an IDE not for Android, but for the iPad. WORQSHOP allows you to do a fair amount of web development and a bit of scripting with Python. Sadly it doesn’t allow any native iOS development yet. I imagine Apple would have a problem with that.

I look forward to these types of apps. With the right IDE, I think developing on a tablet could be very comparable to developing with a Laptop.

If only you could actually write iOS apps on an iPad/iPhone. Oh well… score one for Android.

  2. Just because a man can do a thing, does not mean a man should do a thing.

I'm all for flexibility, but let's not confuse flexibility with productivity.

  3. You don't think a mobile IDE could ever rival the productivity that a desktop IDE can offer? It may not be nearly to that level yet, but I think its certainly possible.
